Lycoming Mall Display

by Rod Dieffenbacher

As I reported in the February Newsletter, the North Central Mustang Club will again this year be having a display in the Lycoming Mall. The display will be held the weekend of May 5th and 6th. For those of you that are not acquainted with this display here is a little background.

The mall allows us to display between 20 and 30 of our cars for the entire weekend, inside the mall. We try to have a cross section of the members cars, not just Mustangs, on display. That means that if you have a Maverick you are just as welcome as the person that has a 1966 GT. We enter the building at approximately 7:00AM on Saturday Morning and must stay there until the Mall closes at 5:00PM Sunday Night. Cars must be cleaned “before” they go in the mall. We can dust, clean carpet, wipe down, and things like that once inside the mall, but we cannot use any cleaner that could make the floor slippery. Unlike most car shows, you can display things like plaques, trophies, memorabilia and the like. We have stanchions and Ford Flags to run around the perimeter of the cars to keep the spectators at a safe distance. We always have someone on “duty” to watch the cars, pass out club information and sell bake sale items. So your car is never alone, even if you can’t be with it for every hour of the day.

If you are interested in displaying your car, let us know. The event coordinator is Tom Shreiner and I’m sure that he will be looking for volunteers at the next meeting. It doesn’t have to be a show car, just nicely detailed and clean. This is normally a first come first served event because of it’s popularity. Because of this I urge you to get your name in early.

NCMC Web Site

by Rod Dieffenbacher

www.ncmustangclub.org

Unless you have been out of touch with the club in the last year, you know that the NCMC has a web site. If you haven’t visited it lately, I urge you to do so. Not because it’s so neat, which it is, but because of the information that it contains. It contains the latest newsletter, future Club activities, photo galleries, links, information on “Fords at the Mall”, and advertisements.

One of the sections being worked on is entitled “Member’s Gallery”. If your car is not part of it, I urge you to submit a picture or two. You can also add text to tell everyone about your ride. Just about anything goes, within reason. It’s real easy to do also. Just submit your pictures and text to Marcie at [email protected] or give them to her at a club meeting.

Hughesville Parade

by Rod Dieffenbacher

Every year the Hughesville Fire Department holds an antique, specialty and machinery parade in conjunction with their carnival. This year is no exception. Every year since it’s inception the North Central Mustang Club has been invited and has participated. This year, as in years past, the Fire Department is offering a cash donation for any club that can provide a minimum of 15 cars. The cash donation is a check for $125.00 made out to the club’s general fund. This is a quick and easy way for the club to make some money. Since the club does not hold many fund-raisers, you can see that this is an important way for the club to raise funds. This should be easy for a club our size, right? Well, every year we have the same worry about getting enough cars to make the quota. Mark your calendar and plan on attending. You don’t want to be the one that prevents us from making our quota, do you?

This year the parade will be held on Wednesday June 6th with a rain date of Thursday June 7th. The parade will form at the Lycoming County Fairgrounds on the south side of Hughesville at 6:30 PM and will move out at 7:00 PM sharp. When you pull into the fairgrounds, make sure that you tell them you are with the NORTH CENTRAL MUSTANG CLUB. There will be more on this parade later.
